Unless indicated below, this is a transcript of the original Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities/Town of Brookhaven survey form. Since most of the surveys were conducted in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, much of the information reflects that time period.

Corrections to obvious typographical and spelling errors have been made. Corrections to factual errors in the original surveys, and updates or comments on the information are either enclosed in [square brackets], or are clearly indicated as updated material from the context of the comments.

Sites with an Inventory Code suffix of “S” are supplemental sites not included in the original surveys.

Other Notable Features of Building and Site
18-Notable Features:    The dining room of this house was originally part of a three room cottage owned by [Elisha E. King]* on the same site, c. 1860-70 There is a circular brick basement under this section.

* Original survey indicated that his name was Ezra King. Subsequent research suggests that it was Ezra's father, Elisha, who first resided there (and perhaps built the original cottage). See full research at related link.

Historic and Architectural Importance
20-Importance:   2 1/2 story, gable roof, stucco and shingle house in the English manner. Façade divided into three asymmetrical sections, each with its own gable. Balustrade at roof line. Jacobean chimney pots. High stuccoed wall close to street, and a mounting block. That this was a small horse farm, with a riding academy and very serious riding taking place may explain some of its English hunting print character.
In 1933, Alan G. Baker was reported as the occupant and it was called "Fire Place Farm."
