This photograph was provided by Hugh Byrne, who has inherited many of the photographs and memorabilia of the Valentine family.
Hugh Byrne comments: "This is photo of Nettie Furman beside the pond at the old Valentine place. Edna Valentine's notes read: 'Trout house, carriage house, cow stable, and a little of the barn. The way the old pace looked about 1890. Nettie feeding wild geese.'"
The location is Beaver Dam Creek, behind (west) the old Valentine Store (now known as the Brook Store, Historic Site ID Br07) before it was moved. This location would now be behind the Brook House (Historic Site ID Br06).
Trout House is to the left in the background.
